01

The brand

ODE

ODE makes listening equipment for people who notice the last inch of a mix. Two products, one idea: keep everything the artist put there, and get out of the way.

Your mix. Heard everywhere. Lost nowhere.
The line · use as written, never rephrased
Personality
  • Precisenot clinicalEvery measurement is deliberate. None of it is cold.
  • Warmnot softBrass, leather, low light. Warmth is a material fact, not a mood filter.
  • Quietnot shyWe do not raise our voice. We do not hedge either.
  • Madenot manufacturedYou can see the hand in it. Hinges, stitching, the way a yoke turns.
  • Certainnot loudState it once and stop talking.
What we are not / what we are
  • A lifestyle brand that sells headphonesAn audio brand that respects the listener
  • Spec sheets and driver diametersWhat the spec lets you hear
  • Hype, drops, countdownsObjects that outlast the trend cycle
  • Bass you feel in your chestThe last inch of a mix nobody else keeps
  • Loud color to get attentionInk and chalk, with brass where the hardware is
ODE OneOver-ear reference. The object that stays on the desk.
ODE GoThe traveling mix. Folds to a hand. The only place Signal appears.
02

The mark

ODE

Quiet caps, airy tracking. The O is a driver: a perfect ring with one brass decibel at the center.

Clear space
DE

Minimum clear space on all four sides equals the cap height of the O. Nothing enters it. Not type, not image edges, not another logo.

Minimum size
24px digital · 12mm print

Below this the decibel in the O fills in and the mark reads as a plain letter. If you cannot fit 24px, use the ring alone.

Approved variations
  • Primary Horizontal, ink on chalk
  • Reversed Chalk on ink, decibel stays brass
  • Mark only The ring, at 24px and under
  • One color All ink or all chalk, decibel knocked out
03

Mark misuse

ODE

Eight ways the mark breaks. If a layout needs any of these, the layout is wrong, not the mark.

Never stretch or condenseThe tracking is the identity.
Never recolor the wordmarkSignal is for the traveling mix, never the mark.
Never rotate or angleThe mark sits level. Always.
Never add effectsNo shadows, glows, bevels or gradients.
Never re-trackTightening the letters kills the air.
Never outlineThe mark is solid or it is not the mark.
Never place on a busy fieldUse a scrim or move it.
Never fill the decibelThe brass dot is a driver. Keep it a dot.

Balance · how much of each, always
  • Signal belongs to the traveling mix only. ODE Go campaigns, never a product body, never the mark.
  • Brass is hardware. Dots, hinges, yokes, details. It is a material, not a highlight color.
  • The world is ink and chalk. If you are unsure, the answer is one of those two.

HEARD EVERYWHERE
Lost nowhere

Inter Regular carries every word a person actually reads. It is quiet, it has a real 400 weight, and it never draws attention to itself. That is the entire brief for the text face.

  • Never bold the display. Light 300 is the voice. Weight is added by size, never by thickness.
  • Tracking never goes negative. Air is the point. If it does not fit, use fewer words.
  • One display line per surface. Two competing statements means neither is read.
  • Web fallback stack: Inter, then system-ui, then Helvetica Neue. Never a serif.

One light. Deep falloff. The product is an object, never a prop. If a frame could belong to any other audio brand, it is not ours.

Never a filterNo presets, no film emulation, no grain added after the fact.
  • No presets, ever. Grade to the palette by hand. No film emulation, no added grain.
  • Backgrounds are ink or chalk. No gradients, no studio sweeps in a third color.
  • People are listening, not posing. Eyes closed or off camera. Never holding the product up.

Voice & tone

ODE
01Say the thing once

One clear sentence beats three hedged ones. Then stop.

02Describe what it does for the listener

Not the component. The consequence of the component.

03Earn the adjective

If you cannot point at the part of the product that proves it, cut it.

04Never sell up

No urgency, no scarcity, no exclamation marks. The object is the argument.

  • Sentence case everywhere except Micro labels, which are caps.
  • No exclamation marks. None. If it needs one, the sentence is not doing its job.
  • Numerals as digits from one upward in specs, spelled out in body copy under ten.
  • Never open with a question. We answer, we do not ask.

Layout, motion & application

ODE
Grid
  • Twelve columns. Gutter equals half the cap height of the O.
  • Margin equals one O on every edge, at every size.
  • Type sits on the grid. Images may bleed. Type never does.
Motion
DepartureEase out, 42Things leave gently. Nothing snaps away from rest.
ArrivalEase in, 100Heavy brake on the way in. Weight is the whole point.
Duration600 to 900msLonger than feels right. ODE moves like an object, not a UI.
OvershootModest, 2 to 4%Just enough to read as mass. Never a bounce.
CutsOn the beat, hardNo dissolves. A cut is a decision.
